Jamdani weaving is a labor-intensive and highly skilled supplementary weft technique.

• Artistic motifs are created by inserting extra threads of non-structural weft into the regular weft, which holds the warp threads together.
• The designs are woven directly onto the loom by hand, without the aid of sketches or patterns, relying on the weaver's memory and skill.
• This meticulous process can take weeks or even months to complete a single saree, depending on the complexity of the design.
• Traditionally, two weavers often work side-by-side on the loom, using a small shuttle ('Maku') for the weft threads and fine bamboo sticks ('Kandul') to interlace the supplementary weft threads into the warp.
